Er, not to offend my American friends but!
$1 Cdn = $1 US
*points* *exclaims* *heads for the border*
I never thought I'd see that in my life. When I was a kid, the dollar was at, like, $0.70. Huh.

I mean I can step back and say that I realize in the long run this is not a good thing for the consumer, but in the short run it is absolutely amazing to be able to cross the border and spend so much less on everyday Walmart/Target/clothing stuff that was untouchable for so many years.
With my dh and my closest friend 'just over the border' we go back and forth a few times a year, and I constantly use their houses as my US mailing address. Whenever we travel I always used to take a calculator so I could compare prices and figure out if things were worth it, or not. It was so great this past summer so just mentally tack in about 10%, compared to the 50% of a few years ago, and it let us save so much on the cost of food and gas pn our trips this year.

The next morning, you decided to take me downtown to see your office, except we had to walk there across a long bridge (see, I remember all the things you told me!). We got to the other side of the bridge, and you pointed out that we were close to the BSG set. I saw some extras in uniform, then I saw Cally leaning against a wall. Once we were past her, I whispered to you, "That's Cally!" THEN a few minutes later JAMIE suddenly started walking in front of us. We both freaked out but acted very cool about it, especially when he turned around and said, "Hello!" And then I had to stop and text
I don't remember anything else, though I think there was a snafu at the airport. Hmm!
If only it were real!
