I have been really excited all week for the next ep.
4.14 - Blood on the Scales
I think I got a little ver klempt at just seeing Gaeta smoking the cigarette, started tearing up once Gaeta started talking about designing restaurants shaped like food, and I was well on to sobbing by the end. I think these were two of my favorite eps of the entire series - I regret we're not getting more eps, but man, they're making these last 10 count.
- He chose to spend his last minutes with Gaius. *sniff*
- I loved that we got that last shot of his chaffed leg, and the sense that finally, finally maybe he was going to get some relief. I think it had much the same impact on me as Dee's death.
- I thought the effect of showing the subtle cracks in people's resolution was nicely done. It all fell apart, and in less than 15 hours. I liked the time stamps for that reason - it felt much longer than that.
Also, OMG ZAREK HAD THE ENTIRE QUORUM SHOT. OMG. OMG. I think my entire neighbourhood heard my "OMG."
- Does this make Lee VP? And, er, the delegate from every colony?
But let's talk about the Kara/Lee buddy!cops show.
-You know, I loved EoJ, and KBL, and UB and 33, but I think the scene where Kara takes out the guy at the urinal and hands Lee his gunbelt is my new favorite Kara/Lee scene ever. The look on his face - the utter acceptance, the nonchalance - I just about died laughing. I've watched it about 20 times. ILUVTHEMOMG.
- And the fake out with the grenade? HA. He's right - she would have thought it was funny if she had done it. And him making the shots when she didn't think he could! Kara may get two guns, but Lee kicks ass too. Damn. I love these two in scenes together even when there's no making out. They have fantastic chemistry and such an understanding of each other. It's fun to watch.
- (And that look between her and Lee when she was yelling at Lee to leave - yum. Intense. Hawt damn.)
Sam! I can't believe they wouldn't show us his death, and I think we were supposed to understand Kara got him to Cottle, but man, I yelled when he got shot. I mean, that didn't look good, there with the bullet to the back of the head.
- For the back 15 I kept thinking "wait, this can't be over - we still have to find out what happened to Sam!" And then it was over.
- I think sometimes the show runners know how many people watch this show on dvd - the fact that we have to wait a week to find out what happens to him is lame.
- Also, "I wonder what Gaeta's going to do?"
"In your case, cut off one of your frakkin' legs."
HA. And oh yeah. Huh. Right. That was his fault.
Romo! Man, the tertiary characters are just crawling out of the woodwork!
- I did think - and I am a little ashamed by this - as Romo was deciding whether or not to help Kara save Sam "Dude! You're such a bad wingman for Lee!"
- Is this the first time Romo and Kara have met? Does he recognize her from Lee's picture?
- Also, don't fuck with Romo's sunglasses. Or hispresent from his boyfriend Lee dog.
- I thought the reminder that Narcho was loyal to Cain and Pegasus first was a nice touch. What happens to him? Does he get shot too? Or just left in the brig? I don't know if Galactica is built to be a prison - but I guess they were doing it with Kelly. Hmm.
On the shallow front:
- Where oh where did Lee lose his jacket?
It was while he and Kara were frantically having sex somewhere between the airlock and the deck. Yes.
- Hot damn, Lee looked good in this ep. And I don't like the new hair, and I still think he was smoking.
- And capable. Capable is really hot in my books, apparently.
Times I cheered:
- KELLY. FUCK YEAH. I cheered when he decided he was going with Lee et al. Dear Aaron Kelly: you sir, have spent your time in the brig well for you are HAAAAWT.
- Haute Dog! Nice work, sir.
- CHIEF. YES. I have no idea what his end game is, but man, he was awesome, and has been awesome lately. That scene with him and Kelly- hells yeah!
- Gaius Baltar, manning up? Who would have thought.
- When they pulled back from Narcho on the coms with Gaeta to show Tigh with a gun on him? HELLS YEAH.
- Adama marching to the CIC and people coming out of the woodwork to come with him? *wibble*
Boos! Boos!
- Racetrack! STOP LAUGHING AT TOM ZAREK'S STORIES.
- I hope Rape!guy gets a slow and painful death.

HAHAHA. My thoughts exactly! Honestly, I rewound that scene to watch it a couple more times because it was just so out of the blue in the middle of the scenes before and after it. Fucking spectacular.
And the fake out with the grenade? HA. He's right - she would have thought it was funny if she had done it.
The role reversal was brilliant. And Kara cowering behind a wall waiting for the blast while Lee just waltzes along was amazing. Her face was totally, "what the fuck, Lee?"
Kelly! Did he lose weight, because he actually looked really good in this episode. And yeah, his storyline in this episode was fantastic and it was heartbreaking watching him fall apart in Memorial Hall.

Man, the synchronocity of pilots this ep- yum. Man, way to remind us why we love them and why they work so well together, as a couple or as wingmen. If I can't have them flying or frakking, I will take this sort of thing. NO MORE SEPARATION. HEAR ME, RON?
I am glad I was not the only one thinking those thoughts about Romo. I mean, I don't want Sam to die, but come on! Romo doesn't know Sam's a good guy! ;)
And I don't think we saw Jake - I could be wrong, but I think Romo says something about having someone feed his dog when the Chief is watching him be marched through the halls.

It was hilarious. The expression on his face. The way she just hands him the gunbelt. Seriously, it was like a "Here honey, hold my purse" kind of ease with which she did that. I don't mean it in an emasculating way in regards to Lee, but it just struck me as funny. Their relationship is so comfortable that she can kick the shit out of ppl and he just stands there waiting like it's no big thing. Love it.

It didn't occur to me that he'd know her from Lee's picture, unless he has a really good memory. I thought it was one of those great TV "two characters we know who've never met suddenly collide" moments, which rarely gets to happen on Battlestar.
Gaeta broke my heart so much. I still can't deal with the fact he's actually DEAD. Six more episodes and no more Gaeta. He got a brilliant send-off, though.
