Man. Man.

I am unsatisfied almost to the point of anger. I am just irrational. I haven't read anyone else's opinions, so it may be I am alone in this., but MAN, am I frustrated.

I said a little prayer to the tv gods before this started:

"Please let me know what Kara is by the end of this hour. Please let Kara know what she is by the end of this hour. also maybe we could have a little pilots making out, or possibly some screen time together? But most of all, let's get Kara back to being Kara."

I didn't get that, unless I wasn't paying attention. It is possible I was blinded by myself shouting "NO NO YOU CAN'T ALMOST BE OVER YET" around 48 minutes in.

I suspected last week that Kara was imagining the music she was hearing in her head. Then she started having long, drawn out conversations with the piano man and I thought "ok, this show has never allowed their characters' crazy to go unacknowledged. Baltar always had to account for his verbal slips with Six. They can't - this can't be all in Kara's head." But I'm still not clear if she was imagining the whole set of encounters or not.

If I'm supposed to draw a line between Hera and Kara, I'm not convinced, and I'm not there, beyond recognizing that hey, their names rhyme.

I just - I want more. I understand maybe things got rushed because they had a limited number of eps left, but Kara's story is one of the epic, overarching stories of the show. I need it to be wrapped up better, and there's so much more story to tell that I can't imagine how they will get to it all in the few short hours they have left. What the hell happened to Kara? I don't feel like I'm being particularily demanding wanting to know or to get a somewhat straight answer.

*goes into shallow shipper mode. Wait, strike that. Shallow character mode*
I understand why Kara might unburden herself to an almost complete stranger, but still, how unsatisfying for the viewing audience. Maybe she has too much baggage with Lee to have this conversation (I disagree, because I think they are friends first, but I digress) but what about Adama, or hell, Helo, who is obviously trying to reach out to her?

but wait! then Kara might get some answers or insight, and her story might get some resolution, le sigh.

All the talk of not knowing your path but still having a destination is fine, but in the end this show is a narrative, and half-truthes and partial answers is not going to lead to any sort of satisifying conclusion. If we come back next week and Kara is settled and at peace, then fine, but I can't imagine that's where things are headed.

I suspect, upon reflection, this is partially my own fault for expecting too much, but I want to expect much and have those expectations exceeded by the show.

Despite this feeling of an utter lack of answers, I really, really liked the ep. I think these last few eps are going to be hard to watch week to week, and will really benefit from a dvd marathon viewing. It's almost painful to be forced to wait. My heart is in my throat here, guys.

Other things:

- Boomer and Helo. Hot, hot, HAWT despite the utter wrongness.
- I love how angry Athena was with Helo, hitting him hard. She thinks he should have known it wasn't her. She's not just a copy.

- I got played just as much as the Chief did by Boomer.
- Also, I forgot Cally shot Boomer, which made me spend a lot of this ep thinking about why Tyrol would have married Cally if he was so busy thinking of Boomer.
- Also, let's talk about how much Grace Park has improved acting-wise since the first season. She was fantastic in this ep.

- Lee! Hi! Bye!
- Please cut your hair while you are off screen making sexy eyes at the cylon delegate

- Hera Agathon: creepy as hell, or creepy as hell?

- Thank you to who ever pointed out that Mr. Piano was played by the guy who played Mike Horton on Days of Our Lives. It would have driven me nuts.
- The actor was pretty good. Sometimes I find the bit players on BSG to be a bit artificial, but I really liked him. DESPITE THE LACK OF ANSWERS.
- His chemistry with Katee was - for a show with so much talk of incest, there was a lot of what could have turned into fun-sexy-time tension between Kara and her dad. It sort of eased off a bit, and I think Kara was well aware he was a replacement for her dad, but there were a lot of moments when I yelled "no, fuck, no, don't sleep with him Kara!" at the tv.
- That being said, I can see some interesting fic coming out of this. I am a terrible person.

There have been some rumblings on my flist as of late regarding pilots and what sort of ending we are going to get. I don't expect sunshine and rainbows and puppydogs. I DO expect one of the central relationships/pairings on the show to get some friggin' screen time together. I have an active imagination. I can make due. I will make due. I need them on the goddamn screen together. I was thinking about the mini and the couples montage of Tyrol and Boomer, Dee and Billy and Kara and Lee and the viper. If the other two 'ships are getting some resolution (granted, not happily) then why can't Kara and Lee?

*grumps*

Also, to those who know who they are:

SIDE BREAST OMG.

I freaked out a little. Did you?

No Canadian preview at the end of the ep so I have no idea what hapens next. I can't wait.

You are SO not alone. Ugh, show.

Boomer and Helo. Hot, hot, HAWT despite the utter wrongness.

Omg yeah. I didn't really want to admit it in my post. BUT IT IS IMPLIED.

Heeeeeee, side breast.

SIDE BREAST OMG. I made a series of embarassing noises at seeing that. OMG. I just - COME ON. It was all supposed to be in our heads!

Also, show. Ugh.

I think that is totally it. We know it's going to end and are in total wait mode.

there were a lot of moments when I yelled "no, fuck, no, don't sleep with him Kara!" at the tv.
Hee! I said it at least once. :-) I mean, it is Kara.

Why don't Kara and Lee get hot kinky sex in the locker room? //end whine

Total side breast, dude. For a moment, I thought Lee would step into that show and make fanfic true. I can dream, can't I?

But...the piano player WAS Kara's father. And...he apparently taught Kara as a child the Watchtower song that called out to the Final Five. While it doesn't exactly reveal who Kara is, didn't you think that the little fact of her knowing the song and that HE was the one that taught it to her was a bit teasingly revealing in some way. Also, he was never really there, so was he a Head!Dad? Or a projection? What does this tell us about Kara?

Plus, it was an incredible gift of a character episode for Kara and the audience.

I listened to the podcast and Ron wanted Kara's dad to look young enough so the audience might think he was going to be Kara’s next romantic interest. He said he just wanted to misdirect the audience.

I totally had an rpfgasm at the side boob too. Didn't we predict a scene like this might happen? :P

Sidebreast oh yes!

I really liked this episode, I cannot lie. And I seem to be one of the few who feels that I got a lot of answers out of Kara's storyline (well, perhaps not the replacement body one, but hey, half-cylon? that;s a good start for reincarnation/downloading of some kind, right? Even if I am not sure how you';d create additional hybrid bodies (maybe grow them like clones)...

Ok - I will admit there are still plot holes. But still...

I get that. Part of me is disappointed but another part of me is going crazy because I really did love just about every Kara moment, and a fair amount of the other people moments too.

Also, I forgot Cally shot Boomer, which made me spend a lot of this ep thinking about why Tyrol would have married Cally if he was so busy thinking of Boomer.
That was why I hated Chief/Cally. It's one thing to get married after your old flame dies. It's another thing to marry the person who killed her.

Also, let's talk about how much Grace Park has improved acting-wise since the first season. She was fantastic in this ep.
She was! Oh my. The scene with Athena breaking down and hitting Helo. Wow.

I guess this episode didn't really give us answers, but it gave us hints. Of answers to come. I feel like someone smarter than me and with more free time ought to be able to figure this all out.

Isn't it odd that Chief just seems to chose women who kill for him (Boomer/Cally; Cally/Tory)?
