completely the opposite down under :) we're "keep to the left unless overtaking", heheh.

Oh, you crazy kids! You also drive on the wrong side of the road! ;)

Stand on the right! Though I suppose my insistence comes from having lived in London, where that is a cardinal rule. Here, we don't have as many people climbing escalators (they're primarily used in places like malls where folks aren't in a rush), so those who do want to climb are often left out.

thhp! it only looks like the wrong side 'cause you're looking at us upside down or something.

I learned the escalator thing the hard way when I was in London! Here it's basically "stand wherever you want unless somebody is walking through and tells you to move your ass."

From: [identity profile] all-shine-on.livejournal.com

I'm thinking you've been downtown with the tourists, am I right? STAND RIGHT WALK LEFT. It says so right on the signs! Drives me totally nuts when they don't do that because it totally breaks the flow of moving downtown.

From: [identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com

See, we have escalators as the primary way of getting out of the transit stations, so when people stand left it screws the entire system up! Argh!

I also get annoyed when people stand left at the mall, but that is me and I am trying to get over it.

From: [identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com

HEE. I will not pretend that I did not say, loudly "STAND RIGHT WALK LEFT" while on the skytrain this week. It's an international lesson to be learned! If I don't inform you politely, someone else will do it by shoving!

From: [identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com

GRANVILLE STATION IS NOT THE RIGHT PLACE TO TEST MY PATIENCE. Those escalators are steep enough that I do not need to be annoyed whilst scaling them. Jeez!

From: [identity profile] effervescent.livejournal.com

Ahahaha, when I first started using the elevators here I made that mistake -g- I was just sort of like '...but, but, why would you want to walk UP an escalator??' But now I get irritated when people don't move, haha.

From: [identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com

*cracks up* Coming from the east coast I was exactly the same way, but now when I'm in Halifax I get SO ANNOYED when people sprawl across the elevator. Oy! MOVE IT OR LOSE IT is my new motto,

Totally stand on the left, walk on the right. :)

From: [identity profile] cosetteferaud.livejournal.com

It really PISSES ME OFF when people walk on the right! In Spain it's a general rule too, even though not everybody respects it at all --actually, I think tourists are way more respectful and polite than some people from here. Ugh)

Hee!! We are stand right, walk left in this city, too. One time when Mr!Indi and I were traveling, I was a little overwhelmed by the crush of a Japanese station - and it wasn't even rush hour! I asked a Japanese friend what the convention was in that country He said it was pretty much walk wherever. :D So I guess the volume of subway traffic has nothing to do with whether there's a rule. *g*

*grumbles at idiotic people standing in the way*

OMG I FUCKING HATE WHEN THE RIGHT SIDE IS ALL FULL AND THEN SOME DOUCHE IS ON THE LEFT AND JUST....STANDS THERE. GOD.

Also, I am so nervous about tomorrow.

From: [identity profile] sarmoti.livejournal.com

It is the same walk/stand rule that they have for people-movers at airports! People should LEARN, yo!

(Sometimes I don't even want to deal with the ignorance of others and just go up the stairs, or walk along side the people-mover where there is more space. Rebellion!)

From: [identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com

Oh, you crazy wrong side of the streeters! I would be fine with that, just, you know, have a lane for walking, tourists! That is all I want!

From: [identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com

I am less incensed by people walking on the right that sprawling across the entire escalator and not allowing ANYONE to walk. Argh! I have places to be! Oy!

From: [identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com

I am finding I am not picky about which side people stand on, as long as the other side is for walking, not spreading out your party of four. The escalators in the train stations here even have little, polite signs - stand right, walk left. They do not say "everyone stop to have an inane conversation while holding up the flow of traffic!"

I should be less annoyed by this! But still!

From: [identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com

Oy! Seriously! I am a very busy person! I have places to be! ;)

From: [identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com

ARGH. I have been known to say "STAND RIGHT, FUCKTARD." Or something slightly more polite to those people. SERIOUSLY.

I can't even stand the thought of tomorrow. I'm going to be in the middle of downtown Vancouver. If we lose, pray for me, for I am sure the city will riot. But we won't! Because this is a nation-defining moment and THEY WILL NOT LET US DOWN. JESUS.

I like the people movers because when I'm walking it creates wind in my hair and I can pretend I am on America's Next Top Model and creating my own wind, as Tyra is always suggesting.

And I would totally take the stairs in our train systems were there any! A few more steps is TOTALLY worth it compared to the frustration I feel when getting stuck behind some asshat who is standing.

From: [identity profile] bluebanrigh.livejournal.com

Fair and totally valid point, people should totally stick to one side. I hate it when I have to dodge left and right to walk past people on the escalators or travelators. Though I usually take the stairs cause they're usually empty.

Lol, love your icon.

From: [identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com

If only I weren't standing on my head! I'm sure it would all be clear then! ;)

(Also! Thank you for the ballons!)
