It's Pride week in Vancouver, which is pretty cool. Everyone, and I mean everyone, gay, straight, bi, questioning, animal, mineral, vegetable is being very affectionate. Everyone is holding hands and canoodling while waiting at crosswalks except those of us who are single. But, but my city is a love-filled place right now, which is a nice feeling.

This couple sat in front of me on the skytrain yesterday and I think they had just found out they were pregnant. They were at least in their 30s but they were ridiculously adorable. He kept rubbing his hand across her stomach and she'd put her hand on top of his and they'd just smile, wide and happy and blinding. They kept whispering to each other and giggling, and every now and then, one of them would turn their head and find the other one watching and they'd just kind of look at each other and then maybe kiss each other softly or smile or mouth something to each other and then they'd both turn and face forward until one of them caught the other looking again.

Normally I wouldn't notice, or be a little annoyed at their inability to keep their hands off one another but they were so clearly full of joy and off in their own little world of two (or three) that I was a little embarrassed to be sitting so close. But it made me smile and I can't stop being happy for them, so I'm glad I picked that seat.
