Sweet lord, I have bad cramps. I had to come home from work when the idea of doing my job instead of sitting in the chair, staring at the computer screen made me want to be physically sick. Oy. Three extra strength tylenol are not doing their job.

Anyone have a good solution?

Now I shall go curl up in a ball on the couch and watch my battlestar dvds. And last night's Greys, which I taped.

For me, caffeine works wonders, but it seems to be one of those things people are divided on. Not the fizzy stuff, but lattes, or even tea with honey & lemon. Or, in desperate situations, triple-shots of espresso.

(Afaik, Midol is virtually equivalent to tylenol + caffeine)

TMI like a TMI thing.

I have a very TMI solution: An orgasm does *wonders* on cramps (as it's just making those muscles that hurt (or the muscles around the hurting ones) do a happy little workout). Plus, for the length of the orgasm, you don't feel the pain at all and when it's over, the pain has lessened considerably. And, I always recommend an orgasm while a tampon is in place -- for obvious reasons. For all of these situations, I recommend a vibrator and I can point out which one (they sell it on amazon.com, hee!) if you'd like.

OMG! *flees from TMI!*

Eat as much iron-rich food as you can, and next month start doing it a week before your period starts. It does help!

Well, I was going to suggest an advil with the tylenol (something about the mix makes the pain go away, a doctor once told a friend), but I think Lizzen's answer is WAAAAY better. ;-)

More fun, at least. ;) I'd never thought of mixing pills, though. I will keep that in mind.

I've heard get more calcium the week before, but never iron. I will have to hunt down some red meat. Thanks for the tip!

The only time I've ever taken Midol is also the only time I've ever passed out. Hee.

But! I could totally manage a big cup of tea. Thanks!

Oh, my Liz. You're awesome. AWESOME.

I already have the necessary, er, equipment, but did you have a recommendation for the future.

(I love TMI posts! Also, I am having a hard time choosing an icon for this.)

Well, I was going to mention my favorite remedy of a heating pad and really mellow music (with lots of Aleve) but Lizzen's remedy wins!

Yes, iron is really good for you and your period. Though Lizzen's idea is much MUCH better.
