1. The roommate is out of town on a business trip, so I am celebrating with wine and a BSG marathon. I r dork, oh I know. Man, this show! So good!
I just finished '33' and I have to say, one of my all time favourite moments in the show is the bit just after Lee offers to smack Kara in the mouth (Oh honey, not until episode 12. And then in ep 6 of the second season, hee!) and then walks away after she's crunched her stims. Tyrol gives her this looks, and she's all "What?" and he's all "I didn't see nothing." I love it so much. So. Much. I almost can't stand it. Yes. I want to write Kara/Tyrol fic now.
1.b. Also, the way Lee says "do I have to smack you in the mouth, Lieutenant?" Still hot, after all this time.
1.c. Mmmm, Scruffy Jamie Bamber. Seriously. So. Pretty. Mmmm.
1.d. Nicki Clyne looks like she hasn't slept for a month, and then went on a bender in this ep. Awesome.
2. I know my neighbourhood is the hub of Vancouver's soccer mania right now, but sweet Jebus, I didn't know it was like this. I went for a walk on the Drive after work, and got danced up and down the street by some kid. It was sweet and weird. I love my neighbourhood.
3. And now, a break for more wine.
4. Ok, back. I'm writing Stargate fic right now - er, am I supposed to be keeping my participation in the Sam ficathon a secret? - and it's so weird to slip back into that head space. I haven't seen an ep in a long time - over a year, except what I've caught on cable. I miss it, a little.
5. I got a new position at work, and this is my last week in my old job. THANK GOD. Of course, my boss let a stupid number of people take vacation this week, so we are back to twelve hour days, but! that's almost over!
6. And now, a song. I Am Aglow, by Sarah Harmer.

Also, you don't have to keep the Sam ficathon a secret. You just can't tell anyone what you're writing or who you're writing for until we reveal everyone, about a week after the stories are posted. And I SO can't wait to read yours. :)

Kara/Tyrol for the win!
Oh and then she's like "Chief! Chief! This is STUPID!!"
And then in Maelstrom he forces Lee to talk to her!
And way back in the mini--when no one knows who the frak Lee is--somehow Chief knows it's going to break Kara to hear he's missing!
They so need to sit around bitching in Joe's bar. OOH and it could totally fit in Taking a Break from All Your Worries within canon. Leemo can be like "Wah, wah but I wanna be with Kara, not Dee." and then Kara can be like "Frakking Men, they're all nothing but trouble" and then Chief can just thank the gods once more that even if it turned out tomorrow he was a Cylon and Cally jumped out an airlock, he still wouldn't be as frakked in the head as those two.
(By the way, I rambled over here after having a little re-reading party of Decline and Fall and then Circumstance and they're both so wonderful, but I think Circumstance almost made me start shipping Kara/Zak more than Kara/Lee. Almost. Wisteria really needs to write the Kara POV now.)

Mmmmm. Okay, sorry, I'm back now. My mind just wandered for a moment. I saw "33" before I saw the mini-series or any of the other eps, and didn't have a damn clue who was who. And I was still going, "Holy shit, the chemistry!" during that scene, despite not having figured out the characters' names.

I liked everything about the street party except the girl who sprayed me with beer. Granted, she wasn't spraying it AT me, and I didn't get a whole lot on me, but I still smelled like a brewery. One of the Baristas at Caffe Calabria was out in the middle of the street with an Italina flag bigger than he was. I figured he was probably going to get run over, but he looked like he'd die happy if that did happen. It was neat.

I know! The chemistry just - man, it just boils off the screen. I was listening to the commentary and Ron Moore was saying the way they break into laughter was unscripted. That is fucking awesome chemistry. I love my hot show!
Re: Vancouver
Cafe Calabria freaks me out a little, with the mirrors and the statues, but yeah, it makes perfect sense that their barista was in the middle of the street with a flag.
Wheeeeeeeeeeee Vancouver.

I only go to Calabria if I've got guests visiting from out of town and they want "local colour". Continental Coffee across the street has better coffee, cheaper coffee, all the drinks are made with fair trade and/or organic beans (good place for picking up coffee to make at home), less intrusively loud music, and no naked statuary, gold-plated mirrors, and flipping fountains inside the damn cafe.
