and
[livejournal.com profile] triciabyrne1978, [livejournal.com profile] splash_the_cat, [livejournal.com profile] jemster who friended me a while back and I never said hello to.

I feel loved. And a little panicked because
a)I am supposed to be editing a paper right now (French feminisms and Wide Sargasso Sea: Writing the body). Instead I am replying to comments ( And just so y'all know, that was REALLY weird to come home to. I'm all "let's just check the ole' email . . . what the hell?!?")

b) I have ljfriends! Now I have to actually, y'know, say stuff here. Ack!

*laughs*

Yep, the pressure is definitely on!

I'm supposed to be writing an essay on the metaphysical peculiarity of Donne and Vaughn. Go me. :P I s'pose my advice is get the comments out of the way and then do the editing, just make sure the work is done... unlike me (lj has eaten my life, help!).

I loved Wide Sargasso Sea. It's been a while since I've read it, but I remember being struck by the image of her circling her wrist with her hand - self-enslavement, made me shudder. It's the most powerful image I've ever come across. Chills down my spine, seriously...

and *waves back* :P

Re:

Ahhhh. Wide Sargasso Sea . This was my first reading and I've reading over twice (mostly to look for paper stuff, but I would have read it again anyway.)

Our prof made us read Jane Eyre first and then WSS. I hated Jane Eyre. Hated. It. Like. The. Devil. God, I've still got about 20 pages left but I will not read them.

But Wide Sargasso Sea ? God, it's just lush and beautiful and sad and God. It is just so darn good! (And my lack of coherency? Not boding well for the paper that's now due in . . . 10 1/2 hours.)I just want to smack al the charachters upside the head and fix things but that's the beauty. They're all just so well broken.

Sigh.

That's it exactly!

I won't rant more because, well, we both have essays to be getting on with. But that's it right there ;)
