I don't really have much of an opinion on tonight's BSG seeing as it felt like so much of a build up for next week's ep.

Reading my flist, it seems people believe Lee is the root of all evil (duh duh DUN!) (discussion question TM [livejournal.com profile] wisteria_.) Huh. I thought things were quite clearly written so that we were (for the most part) on Lee's side. But maybe that's just me. I've always been a Lee fan.

- Anyways, I was torn as to whether Lee's big revelation was that Laura was back on the chamalla or that she and his dad were doing it. And my heart just broke a little when she pulled her "Captain Apollo. Remember that?" Oh! Ron! You remember that she and Lee used to be close!

- I, like Lee, also didn't assume she was back on the grass (or whatever form it takes. Pills, I think) because her cancer returned. I just assumed that because they were getting nearer to the nebula, she thought they might need some visionary guidance or whatever. I always liked that mystical crap back in the day, so I say bring on the chamalla!

- I also (likely mistakenly) took Lee's resignation with a grain of salt. When they need him back in the cockpit, they'll hand him back his wings I think. The man has committed mutiny and then 6 months later was the commander of a battleship. Speaking of which, Helo's the XO again? I laughed at that. And his ability to smell cylons.

- I did worry Racetrack was toast there for a minute. (or maybe bread for the toaster? *rimshot*)

- Dee's reason for leaving seemed to be sort of flimsy. I can't decide if it was just shoddy overall storytelling or if her and Lee having more trouble was cut, or if it was supposed to be clear that they were both just looking for a way out that wasn't Kara.

- I thought, though it may just have been me holding my breath, that there was an extra long space where Katee's name was supposed to be during the credits, but it was hard to tell because no normal credits. Is that the first time they've done that?

Now, the shallow:

- Lee! In a suit! Quite the natty suit, actually. Where did they find it? Or, better yet, how did they find one to fit the arms? And the white shirt! Hooray! Let's keep Lee a civvie so we can see more clothes!

- Sam! In uniform! Would have been nice for someone to mention that, yes? Anyways, he and Seelix, eh? Hmm. Oh! Hey! Remember when Lee told him he'd make a good officer? And now Sam's in the military and Lee's not.

- Oh! And Laura's snap about Tory's hair! As I said to the cat, "It's not bad enough that she's questioning your professionalism. Now she's questioning your hair." I just giggled and giggled!

I apparently had more to say than I thought.

I spent part of this weekend watching the first season ('33' through '6 Degrees of Seperation'). Man. It's almost like watching an entirely different show. You know what I miss? Baltar's house.

I'm currently feeling quite bleh, but I have work to do, so I should get to that.

In conclusion, I love this new Avril song.

I love Lee Adama and I don't care who frakking knows it. And he is the only person who actually cares if Baltar gets a fair trial. I'm not saying Daddy issues aren't in play, or that much of this is isn't reaction to Kara's death, but Lee Adama believing in the rule of law above all things, is kinda how Roslin got him to help break her out of the brig.

Anyway, Dee's reasons for leaving where completely flimsy. And silly. And lame. And I would celebrate Lee finally being free of that marriage, but knowing RDM, he'll probably be begging her back next week.

It always seems like Dee's scenes get cut so we get one scene in an ep when we haven't seen her in 3. I wish we could get some indiciation of why things weren't working when Lee gave up Kara to be with her.

But yes, he'll likely want her back next week. Oy.

Yes! Exactly. Lee is being Old Lee. It's the same character strength/flaw that got him to agree to elections with Zarek and put a gun to Tigh's head. I marvel at the number of people who see this as some kind of betrayal - he's always been about the ideal, which is a good thing I think, since so few others on this show are. He's not necessarily right on every level, but where others see wishy-washy and "sticking it to daddy", I see the old Lee I fell in love with.

how did they find one to fit the arms?

hee! I was wondering that too!! They must have to special-tailor his shirts and stuff, because no way does a regular shirt fit over those biceps. Or else they get one a couple sizes up and take it in, so it clings to his shoulders.

now Sam's in the military and Lee's not.

I was saying to Alanna - I don't know if Kara's coming back but if she is, what a fascinating turn of events if she does and Sam and Lee have switched places. Is there more to K/L than shared history and sharing a dangerous job? (you know my answer to that!!) Will she still want either of them? Will we ever see pilots (our pilots!) as pilots again???

From: [identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com

I'm glad we're all concentrating on the important stuff. Who cares how the trial will end up or what's up with Tigh - How did they get those shirts to fit Lee so fabulously? Hee!

As for your second comment, oooffff. I never thought of that. While I'm pretty sure Lee will end up a pilot again, Sam's now going to be a pilot until they kill him off. Huh. Weird. This is why Kara needs to come back - how awesome would this be? Awesome. (Also, Piloooooooooooots!)

Speaking of which, Helo's the XO again? I laughed at that.

Hee, indeed! After last week we were all joking about what job they'd give Helo this week....and then they actually did give him a new job! Or, techinically, his old job. But still. this is getting crazy!

And the white shirt! Hooray!

Guh. As happy as I was to see Dee leaving Lee, I was like "How can she resist him in that white shirt? Wouldn't you at least want to frak him one last time?"

From: [identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com

But still. this is getting crazy!

Were I in that CIC, I would fasten my career to Helo's because I'm sure he will shortly find himself commander of some random battlestar they find floating around. That, or busted back to Lieutenant (junior grade! He was junior grade in the mini and the first season! And now, XO? Oy!)

"How can she resist him in that white shirt?"

Do you think it's possible she somehow grew immune to the charms of his physical appearnace while they were married? No, that can't be right. Anyways, I would have also taken advantage of the white shirt before leaving.

I would have also taken advantage of the white shirt before leaving.

Oh, who are we kidding, Elly? None of us would ever leave him, white shirt or no! ;0)

And I wonder when she's going to get around to telling Lee about her election stealing. (What system, exactly, were you putting in place of the old one, Dee?) Then Lee can look at you with the same scorn you have for him.

From: [identity profile] sarmoti.livejournal.com

I'm wondering (hoping!) if maybe Lee will read about the election stealing in some of Baltar's papers that they got from Colonial One. Too much to hope for? Probably.

From: [identity profile] indigo419.livejournal.com

Nah, why spend more time on that storyline? When we can have Lee exchanging barbs with Romo and Gaius? I'd forgotten about bitchy!Lee, he is so much fun! :0)

Oh, who are we kidding, Elly? None of us would ever leave him, white shirt or no! ;0)

*Snort* Does Mr. Indi know this?

You know who she stole that election with? Gaeta. *waves tiny Dee/Gaeta flag* It would be nice if Lee found out so he could have a moment to stop feeling a little less guilty about always being the one who does the 'wrong' things.

From: [identity profile] indigo419.livejournal.com

*Snort* Does Mr. Indi know this?

Yes, I have a Jamie Bamber clause in my marriage contract. ;0)

I think we should start a fact-finding committee on behalf of Lee, so he can have a peaceful conscience and divorce Dee without guilt! Then of course he will need comfort, lots of comforting... and of course that will rumple the white shirt so it needs to be removed for ironing... *trails off distractedly*

immune to the charms of his physical appearnace

If so, that wouldn't been the least believe plot twist ever in the history of this show. :)

Gah, I mean WOULD'VE been. I can't type! The white shirt has me distracted.

From: [identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com

I'm sorry, that cracked me up. I'll use that at work tomorrow.

"Sorry, boss, don't have the memo ready. The white shirt! It distracted me!"

God, I wish I could use that as an excuse.

From: [identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com

Hahahahahah! It could happen! Maybe after a while she was just "yeah, Lee, so you have an incredible body, great eyes, fabulous smile, strong jaw etc etc etc but I'm just not feeling it anymore! Can't you pick up your goddamned tiny towels?!"

I was totally on Team Lee

Roslin and Adama have been angering me a lot lately - let them burn I say.
