[Poll #1057062]This is going somewhere. But also I am curious.

(I'm now dancing my way towards the special hell. Awesome.)

Best. Poll. Ever.

I actually say, "I have to run to the ladies" all the time. But in general I'll refer to it as "bathroom".

Now I must run to the ladies -- to brush my teeth and wash my face! -- then do the bedtime thing.

Bwhahahahah! I mean, I know what I would say but then I worry and think "what if it's because I'm Canadian? What if I should be saying 'soda' instead of 'pop', which, incidentally, I did for a week after returning from Atlanta.

A semi-fancy setting, like, say, a party after the Emmys. Er. Maybe.

ALSO. You are from MY PANTS? OMG. I didn't realize! OMG! ;)

'Soda' and not 'Coke'? Shoot, I guess our corruption of you was not complete.

Hee! I did, at one point, ask for a diet Pepsi and then I realized what I had done and I was like "a Coke! A Coke! Jeez, a Coke!"

I personally would say "restroom" just because that's how I am, but if I think about it, it's actually probably more polite to say "ladies room" (so I guess I'm not polite :P)

Yeah, I think I would likely say that I had to go "to the ladies" which shoots for classy, but doesn't quite make it. :)

In addition to restroom I also use the term "the facilities". No clue where that came from or why I choose to use it so often.

I don't actually know if I'd use restroom or ladies' room. Whatever came to my lips first, I think.

Although, if I were speaking, say, to the person I'd come to the event with, I'd probably say, "I'm going to the bathroom."

Haha, this is the best poll!

One time a family friend was visiting from eastern Europe and we were at a restaurant and she asked me what the difference was between "bathroom" and "toilet" and "restroom" and all the rest because she was never sure which term she was supposed to use. I told her that when it's a public facility you'd usually say "restroom" but if you're at someone's house you would say "bathroom." And you basically never say "toilet."

Cultural learnings of America for make benefit...everyone!
