Arrgh! lj is driving me nuts with the up and down.

Uhm, a warning to you all; looks like my email may have been hacked and used to send email to people not in my address book. I don't know how either, but I got one returned to me with a (well deserved) WTF, so it's happened.

I've changed all my passwords: hopefully that's enough, but if I've recently send you a strange email? Not me. Well, it might have been, but I haven't sent a lot of email from that address, so, you know, probably not me.

So it wasn't you that sent me an e-mail guaranteeing ultimate sexual prowess with the purchase of an all-natural herbal powder? Well, crap.

*sulks*

No! Wait! I *did* send you that!

Oh, good. *wipes brow*

And here I was going to cancel my order.

You aren't tthursomething-or-another-with-numbers on this alternate e-mail, are you? If so, yeah, you sent me a virus, (twice inthe past 24 hours) but my antivirus caught it and I deleted it. If not, I think it was someone on samandjack. I assumed it was the virus that sent it, not the sender, and took no offense. I even assumed that the sender that was listed didn't actually send it. These things happen, and that's why I have an antivirus and firewall.

If it wasn't you, know that you not alone in being hacked/virused. *shrug* 'Tis life on the net.

I think it was someone on samandjack that tried (accidentally) to virus me.

About a month or so ago, a message appeared on samandjack supposedly sent by me at a time when my computer was not only off-line, but turned completely off for *hours*. I ran my virus scan repeatedly and concluded that I had a virus-y imposter somewhere. Weird.

I'm glad your computer is okay!

That's not a hack. It's most likely a virus on the machine of somebody who has your email address. The virus fakes emails from all the people in the infected person's address book.

You ought to dl the latest virus definitions for your scanner, though, and run a full virus scan, just to be sure you're not the infected one.

Unless, of course, you're on a Mac, in which case you can ignore the entire affair and laugh at the silly person who has a virus and doesn't know it.

Cool. Thanks :)

Sure. Fine. Taunt the non-Mac users for our stupidity. :P
