I was watching the Stephen Cobert Christmas Special and realized I perked up and started paying attention when Jon Stewart arrived. And lo, a new theory was born.

I have long believed there are two type of people in this world: those who like The Sound of Music, and those who prefer Mary Poppins. (If you like neither, well. It's best if we don't discuss it.)

I now suspect there is one more way of dividing the world: Stewart people and Colbert people. Oh, I like them both fine, but which one do I watch first and all the way through on el Tivo? Simple.

Well I'm gonna flaut convention because I don't particularly care for Stewart or Colbert (more of a Conan fan myself) and I love BOTH Mary Poppins and Sound of Music.
I will be the exception to whatever rule you come up with. ;)

Well, that's it. Off my flist!

(Kidding, kidding, I welcome all kinds!) (I will be watching you suspiciously for a while, granted, but that is to be expected.)

The first choice was easy, but there's no way I can choose between Maria and Mary!

Huh. You might be the first to ever tell me that. It's such a clear choice in my mind, I can't even begin to find myself torn.

(Maria all the way!)

Hmm. It's interesting. I adore Stephen Colbert to pieces as a person and on his show, but overall I enjoy watching The Daily Show much more.

And you know where I stand on The Sound of Music. Whee! Must rewatch that when I get back from the holiday!

Hmm. I agree. I like Stephen lots, but I like The Daily Show more. Maybe I like Stephen Colbert over "Stephen Colbert."

SOM! WHOOOOOO! Man, that was handy at D*C this year, eh? :D

For the first, I had never watched either until I stayed at a friend's house. News comedy doesn't do it for me. Unless it's Tina Fey on SNL or something. There you go! Third party answer: Tina Fey.

I can't chose between Maria and Mary Poppins. That's impossible. Who doesn't like Julie Andrews? That would be so . . . wrong.

Maybe you solve a problem like Maria with a spoonful of sugar? Tuppence? Brown paper packages tied up with strings? It can all be very confusing.

Man! I wish I could edit my poll to include Tiny.

Also, you people who can't choose between Maria and Mary, boy, I don't know. But I like your suggestions for trying!

Hate The Sound of Music?!?!?! But how?! There's Rolf and Lisel in the rain, and 'A Few of My Favorite Things' and clothes made of curtains. . . and nazis. Whatever!

I've never really been a Mary Poppins fan, to be honest. Not sure why. I don't dislike it, but there's no contest for me, even with the nazis. Though I do like the chimney sweep song.

Are you going to make charts to see if people who prefer MP have a tendency to prefer Stewart or Colbert?

I love Mary Poppins and Sound of Music equally! I was obsessed with both as a child!

I must say, if pushed, I am a Colbert fan.

But isn't there one that, if forced to choose, you would put into the dvd player first? Hmm?

It's John Stewart and the Sound of Music for me.

Thinking of creating a new personality test?

From: [identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com

Whoot whoot! Those are my choices too.

I just think the preference is very revealing. I'm not sure what it reveals, but there must be something there, right? It's the people who have seen neither that create the problems.

I can't choose between Stewart and Colbert. I love them both. Unfortunately, neither show airs in Sweden (at least on the channels I watch), so I don't see their shows regularly. I have seen enough to know that I like them, though.

I must confess that I haven't seen Mary Poppins since I was really young, so I don't have any recollection of it to speak of. I do watch SOM every now and then, though, and I'm still disappointed I missed the sing-along-version that was organized in a cinema where I lived last year.
