4.13 - The Oath

- I would watch the Karan'Lee BuddyCops! show every week. I am sure that surprises no one.

Really, I'm just happy to see Kara looking like she's doing something other than angsting and Lee with a haircut! Whooot for no longer having his hair brush his collar as much! kicking some ass again.

- I'm not going to lie or sugar coat it: I have very little time or patience for the Adama/Roslin relationship. Not because I object to old people kissing (though I kind of do, and so do the other characters as judging by everyone's reaction) but for other reasons.

They - and here is where I suppose I will be alone - they remind me of Holden Caufield from Catcher in the Rye. I remember reading it in high school and being so pissed at Holden. He had a family and friends and people who worried about him and he was jaunting off to New York to do stupid things, the idiot. It's the same way I feel about Laura and Bill. You have responsibilities. I am sorry if you would rather stare moonily into each other's eyes, but you can't. Look where that's gotten you.

(I think there is a larger point here - I was thinking about this today, thinking about Kara's comment about how children replace their parents. I think this is going to be a big theme for the rest of the season. As much as I would have liked to see an all Kara-and-Lee, all naked revue, they are the ones left to step up and figure out how to take down Gaeta this time. Roslin's gone, Adama is offering himself as a sacrificial lamb. Kara and Lee are hiding in the bowels of the ship having a lot of hawt sex figuring out how to take that rat weasel Gaeta down.

Also: Laura and Gaius are one of my favorite duos on this show, I am realizing. More Baltar (I have never said that before.)

- Alright, let's talk about it: That Lee/Kara smooooooch. I cheered. I did the victory arms accompanied by a "whoooooooooooo!" I have watched it more than once. I understand it was no declaration of eternal love, but hot damn! There's my pilots! Proof of, if nothing ese, the fact that Kara really wanted to plant one on Lee after some of those dog fights. And Lee's adorable, confuzzled "whaaaa? I am trying not to be too pleased by this turn of events because of the chaos surrounding us but I TOTALLY AM PLEASED OMG" expression. And Kara! So alive and unmopey! Kicking ass and taking names! Yes! This is the show I am interested in, Ron Moore. Less moping, more ass-kicking!

(I just watched that scene again. God I've missed those two. )

(Dear Jamie: Okay, we get it. Lee's thing is putting his hands on Kara's face when she kisses him. Yes. Understood. It does not need to happen every time. (I am not complaining! Well, I sort of am. Shut up, Elly. Ok.)

Alright, who's got money on whether they stopped for a quick, life-affirming fuck against a wall while they were out and about? Because I will put money on that, yes.

Other notes:

- Kara in the hanger bay? Shooting things? HOT DAMN. THAT'S OUR GIRL. Saving Princess Lee!

- SEELIX. Mothefuckin' DIANA SEELIX, ladies and gentlemen. Man. That was . . . uncomfortable and incredibly dehumanizing.

- Who else was screaming "Not the face! Not his beautiful face!!!!" when they attacked Anders (and Helo, for that matter?)?

- TYROL. Man I loved him in this ep. So in charge! So capable! Inspriing as much loyalty as Gaeta, in his way, even though he is a cylon, which I kind of forgot until now. He's a cylon and he still managed to get an info network up and running.

- That poor guy who got shot protecting Adama in the CIC: Was I the only one who got the sense Adama couldn't remember his name? Way to keep referring to him as "That Boy." Oy.

- Also: Felix Gaeta, evil mastermind. Who knew? You could see his mind working at points. Such a smart guy, so many balls in the air, and ruthless to boot. Man.

- Related: HOSHI. Man, Felix, you totally should have gotten Hoshi on your side.

Again, my favorite episode in a very, very long time.

I have the same objections to Roslin/Adama that you do. Like, okay, I'm sorry that you're dying, I really am, but come on. (And I do not need to see naked cuddling, thank you!)

Aww, I kinda like Jamie/Lee's tic where he puts his hands on Kara's face. And I like that her expression of feeling alive includes making out with Lee. Not that I blame her.

And the idea that they're off frakking against a wall before they run off to deal with Gaeta is now canon. No one will convince me otherwise.

Kara in the hanger bay? Shooting things? HOT DAMN. THAT'S OUR GIRL.

I gasped and then cheered so much at that moment. She should have shot Racetrack and that other dude, too. Hell, she should have shot... Skulls (is that his name?) in the face. DIE TRAITORS, DIE (hah, I'm so bloodthirsty)

Seelix... ugh, never liked her, and never will.

Tyrol was fantastic in this episode. He's a decent guy when it comes down to it, and loyal to Adama and the Galactica crew. I hope he makes it.

Poor Hoshi - I wonder what happened to him.

Alright, who's got money on whether they stopped for a quick, life-affirming fuck against a wall while they were out and about? Because I will put money on that, yes.

I wholeheartedly believe that you should write this.

(Elly? That's our thing. You make fabulous Pilots suggestions, and I tell you to write them.)

REALLY good point about K/L basically taking over for A/R, especially with the callback to her "children replace their parents" line. It makes beautiful sense within the context of the season, though on a meta level I'm not sure RDM would sideline the parents, even in the final season when it makes perfect narrative sense, because they're The Stars. Hmm.

And yes, Kara was totally the white knight riding in to save the poor princess Lee. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Kara's comment about how children replace their parents. I think this is going to be a big theme for the rest of the season.

They have definitely been laying the groundwork for this all season long. But nicely, I think. Not a one-ep turnaround, but many, many callbacks. I was thinking about last week, when Roslin goes for a jog around the big G, and what ironic counterpoint it is to the opening scenes of the mini, with Kara running. And then A/R snuggling as if there was nothing else going on in the world. Such a contrast to K/L stepping up, Lee seeing the plays that he thinks Laura is supposed to be making, Kara sensing the wind turning before Adama does... It's just gorgeous. Such a sense of doom hanging over everything, and yet I dare to hope!

Laura and Gaius

I am really enjoying them too, and like you I've never been much for Gaius in the past. Fascinating to see them whirl through their mental databases of strategy, and try to game each other. Oh, show. Such bliss.

Poor Hoshi - I wonder what happened to him.

I kind of think that Gaeta had the Marines frog-march him as a cover-up, so that he wouldn't be tainted by his association with Felix. But I think Hoshi is probably appalled by the mutiny, and may yet turn against Felix. Just speculatin'.

From: [identity profile] indigo419.livejournal.com

Chaffey, the guy who got shot, was mentioned in that episode where his wife's ghost is haunting him

OMGS you're right!! I knew that name sounded familiar. Thank you! Oh show, I love when you remember your continuity!!!

From: [identity profile] bijoux.livejournal.com

Oh yes, I did see the Marines leading him out, so I'm fairly sure Hoshi wasn't on Felix's side since he really seemed baffled by all the fake problems popping up. I'm just hoping they sent him to the brig or something, and not take him out back and put a bullet through his head.

Oh man, if Hoshi could get one over on Felix, that would be great.

From: [identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com

Dude. The continuity on this show is awesome!

And clearly Felix knew Hoshi well enough not to try to turn him. Oh, our boys.

From: [identity profile] sarmoti.livejournal.com

Hoshi should buddycop it with Kara and Lee as the awkward 3rd wheel! "So...what's with you guys? Are you, like, together? Sorry my boyfriend is trying to take over the ship."

From: [identity profile] indigo419.livejournal.com

Well, apparently Hoshi escaped the Marines, because he wasn't with Adama and Tigh when they opened up a can of whupa** on their guards. ;0P I'm sure it will break Hoshi's heart, but he must do What Is Right. He swore an oath too - and he's ex-Pegasus, he was trained by no less than Cain! *g*

From: [identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com

Oh, Carrie. YES. YES. A THOUSAND TIMES YES to everything you said.

(And I do not need to see naked cuddling, thank you!) Unless it is pilots! Then I am fine with it! I am also fine
with my double standard in this case!

And the idea that they're off frakking against a wall before they run off to deal with Gaeta is now canon. No one will convince me otherwise.

DONE. Who can I convince to write this, though? *eyes flist*

From: [identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com

Hell, she should have shot... Skulls (is that his name?) in the face. DIE TRAITORS, DIE (hah, I'm so bloodthirsty)

HELLS YEAH. I would seriously watch "Kara Thrace's Deadly Rampage Agasint Traitors (with bonus kissing and saving of her boyfried Lee!) ALOT."

Tyrol was fantastic in this episode. He's a decent guy when it comes down to it, and loyal to Adama and the Galactica crew.

I'm really interested to see what way his character jumps. I was struck by the thought that he might not have risked himself in the way he did were Nicky still his. Hmm. I can't wait to see where this goes! Show!

Poor Hoshi - I wonder what happened to him.

I think he got lead off to the brig with Adama and Tigh - but he wasn't with them later. Hmm.

From: [identity profile] bijoux.livejournal.com

Maybe they got taken to different compartments? I mean, Hoshi had another Marine guarding him, and Adama and Tigh had two, so presumably before Adama and Tigh took over their two they would've been like "Where's the other guy with his prisoner?" if Hoshi had been with them the whole time. They should have made this more clear on the show, hrumph.

From: [identity profile] bijoux.livejournal.com

I was struck by the thought that he might not have risked himself in the way he did were Nicky still his. Hmm. I can't wait to see where this goes! Show!

Oh, like now that he knows he's not responsible for anyone, he's free to risk his life w/o feeling guilty? At first I thought you meant, "Well, if Nicky isn't his, then he might not feel any ties to the humans anymore and would be free to revolt" but then that doesn't jive with what he did this episode. Hah, I'm dumb.

From: [identity profile] pathstotread.livejournal.com

Well, pilots are the OTP! Double standards are totally okay when we're talking OTP! I specifically meant NO OLD PEOPLE CUDDLING. Naked pilot cuddling, I am all for.

I vote you! Or Indi. Or Claira, once she sees it.

From: [identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com

(Elly? That's our thing. You make fabulous Pilots suggestions, and I tell you to write them.)

And that is why I love you. *considers writing this*

though on a meta level I'm not sure RDM would sideline the parents, even in the final season when it makes perfect narrative sense

I think they could maybe do this without sidelining Eddie and Mary - maybe use them of an example of what not to do? Hmm.

And yes, Kara was totally the white knight riding in to save the poor princess Lee. Wouldn't have it any other way.

I DEMAND THIS CRACKFIC. Also, it reminds me of Jamie's comment that Lee is the Leia to Kara's Han Solo. Oh show!

From: [identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com

what ironic counterpoint it is to the opening scenes of the mini, with Kara running.

Oh! Excellent point! I did notice she was dressed in 'Kara' casual wear. Hmm.

And Laura and Gaius - he really brings out the best in her in some ways - especially politically. I'm excited for them to be trapped on a basestar together again.

From: [identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com

I VOTE CLAIRA. I always vote Claira. Now, who is going to tell her?

And I will not lie - old people cuddling is kind of yuck. Hot, young, sexay pilot cuddling is JUST FINE.

From: [identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com

THIS IS THE BEST THING I HAVE READ ALL NIGHT.

"Listen, Felix really has a weakness for cashew nut clusters and MORPHA. How can we exploit that, do you think?"

*beat*

"Are you two listening or are you making out again?"

*pause*

"Really? Again? Sweet lords of Kobol."

From: [identity profile] pathstotread.livejournal.com

Also, it reminds me of Jamie's comment that Lee is the Leia to Kara's Han Solo.

OMG WHAT. I love these people.

I already commented in [livejournal.com profile] sarmoti's LJ that there should be a weekly installment of Princess Lee and his Knight In Shining Flightsuit.
zorb: (Everybody needs a little porn sometimes)

From: [personal profile] zorb

an all Kara-and-Lee, all naked revue

*cracks up for like five minutes straight*

From: [identity profile] pathstotread.livejournal.com

I'll tell her next time I talk to her! I'm supposed to be making her PILOTS icons anyway, so I can just slip in "So, Claira, the fandom has unanimously decided you should write this."

From: [identity profile] daybreak777.livejournal.com

Alright, who's got money on whether they stopped for a quick, life-affirming fuck against a wall while they were out and about? Because I will put money on that, yes.
I second all life-affirming fraks against any walls or bulkheads in fic or in canon.

All in favor that Elly write this? AYE!

From: [identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com

HA!

You do that and let me know how it goes. I am trying to think of bribes for me to offer and am coming up blank, darn it!
