So.

Huh.

Not the adrenaline rush of the last two weeks so much.

Okay. Rational elly reaction first:

- I was utterly and totally absorbed by the Ellen/Tigh scenes. I know they were exposition, I know they were the easiest way to explain everything, and yet I was still rivited. So the 13th tribe were cylons who figured out how to reproduce but forgot how to resurrect, so the final five figured it out? And then travelled on a ship that had no ftl capacity to the other tribes? That makes sense.
- What blew up earth - these were the centurions the 13th tribe created? Am I right on that?

It's so satisfying to be finally getting answers. YES.

-Oh, Galactica! Someone - Pen or Claira maybe, way back when - wrote a story once (or was planning to) about everyone forgetting that the air purifiers on Galactica were on their last legs pre-mini until it was too late. I have always loved the concept. I am excited to see where this goes.

- Cheif! So Laird's death: handy plot device, y/n? y.
- Tyrol was enjoyable this week. I really enjoyed all of his scenes.

- Ellen Tigh, yo. I can't get over how fantastic she was. Man.

- Jeez, Ishay, you are an angry, angry lady.

- While I appriciate Roslin staying on as President-figurehead but I feel like it's not fair to Lee, and only is going to make things difficult.
- Granted, god knows who the ships would actually elect president given the chance.
- That's right, I said it.
- Lee's point about the ships defining their lives and not their old planets is a long, long, long time coming.

ETA: JOHN FREAKING HODGMAN. You should have heard me yalp/cheer when he showed up as the brain guy.

Also: Is it wrong I am relieved the Lee Adama Red Shirt of Hotnes made it through the mutiny unscathed?

Okay. The Sam/Kara thing.

1. Michael Trucco is very, very, verry pretty. Le sigh.

2. Kara, I just - I think if I were a Kara/Sam shipper I would be over the moon. OVER THE MOON. BUT.
2A. I've never doubted that Kara loves Sam.
2ab. You will not and cannot convince me that Kara and Sam are the big bad love story of this show. They've tried and I am still not buying it. This is because of my o$wn ship, but still.
2abb. I see how one could read it as such - going back for Sam, everything that their love/marriage has launched. I see that. I'm not willing to accept it, but I see it.

3. While I do believe Kara loves Sam, there were a couple of her actions in this ep that made me think "yikes. She is looking out for her first, Sam second."
3a.These thoughts were always refuted.
3b. The look on her face when Sam revealed there is a 7th/13th? Pure terror. And I feel like that's when I saw Starbuck go into survival mode.
3c. Yes, she chose surgery because it was the right option, and yes, Cottle calling her out as wife had something to do with it. But I don't think she wanted to hear any more, either.

4. For the SG peeps: Tori and Tyrol's reaction to Anders' news they were madly in love at one point: totally the same reaction Sam and Jack had to finding out they were engaged in an alternate reality. HA.

5. Sam's certainly not dead, right?
5a. Oh, Ishay. You're so ANGRY.

IN CONCLUSION:

- Is Kara 7/Daniel? Well, they seemed to conclusively argue that 7 was/is a he. I don't know, though. Cottle contaminated him. Who knows what happened. There is spec below regarding my thoughts on this:

SPOILER SPEC:
$20 says Daniel is/was Zak Adama. Yes, I am still convinced he is a cylon.

And I feel like that's when I saw Starbuck go into survival mode.

I totally thought she was going to shut him up, permanently. Thank goodness she didn't, I dunno, suffocate him or something. However, it looks like he won't be talking anyway (at least for a while).

JOHN FREAKING HODGMAN

What a fantastic, surprising cameo :)

Oh, Ishay. You're so ANGRY.

Could it be because she was doing scenes with Kara, but knew about the possible shenanigans? YES MY BRAIN WENT THERE.

WHAT IS UP ANGRY WIFE OF JAMIE BAMBER.

I am SO hoping that Daniel is Zak or Billy or Lee in that order. yes.

Ellen was so luminous in this episode. I've been resisting her as the final fifth, but DAMN, what a beautiful job. A+, show.

2. I would be over the moon, except, brain dead! *criez and criez more*

3. No, I'm pretty sure it was the opposite. When Sam starts talking about the 7th, she holds up the surgery for a moment so she can hear who it was. And then later she apologizes to him for waiting, because she wanted it to be her; "I need to be something." So I think it's that she's going to blame herself for waiting just that extra moment and making him brain dead, and not for ordering the surgery and making him brain dead. If I have my Kara angst straight.

5. CERTAINLY. lalalala!

So I think it's that she's going to blame herself for waiting just that extra moment and making him brain dead, and not for ordering the surgery and making him brain dead.

I think she'll either blame herself for that or for OKing the surgery that Sam was against having, but I don't think she'll feel guilty because she was trying to silence him. It seemed to me she wanted to know everything, even if it meant she found out she was a Cylon. After all, she knows she died and she's not what she used to be so finding out she was a Cylon and resurrected would at least be an answer.

In my opinion, even though I early on shippe k/l Kara was DESTINED to save Sam. That was the initial pull they felt for each other. Like recognizing like. This going back for him when he's shot, still caring for him is reflection of that. I think Kara is so complex she can love (in her own sick way) many people and she never stopped loving Sam she was just tortured at a time when he kept reaching out.

She admitted that part of the reason she was hovering was because he said he remembered and hoped she'd get answers, but she's honestly worried about him. He's been the one who accepted her as she was, didn't want to change her. Still wanted her when she was broken.

Again she's torn, she wants to know but doesn't, but even when his brain activity was flat she was there. I'm just not sure why...if to comfort or seek knowledge. It was a little spooky.

Hmm...! Since Sam's reveal as a Cylon, I've been going with the vibe of him being subconsciously destined to fall for her all along. But the idea that a half-Cylon Kara was also destined to find/protect Final Five Sam is very, very interesting.

Jeez, Ishay, you are an angry, angry lady.

After this past week, I laughed when Kerry and Katee showed up in the same scene. The above? Subtext! ;)

Yes, she chose surgery because it was the right option, and yes, Cottle calling her out as wife had something to do with it. But I don't think she wanted to hear any more, either.

That's what I'm thinking. It was much more clear upon rewatch. I definitely think many of her thoughts were motivated by genuine love and concern for Sam, but there was definitely some "What's he going to say about me?" going on. And as for the romance... I dunno. Obviously I'm not looking at it through a devoted shipper's eyes, but again, I didn't see diehard romantic love there. Though maybe that was just the particular circumstances -- not exactly Valentine's-friendly, there.

Jeez, Ishay, you are an angry, angry lady.

She was mean mean mean to Katee Starbuck. Just sayin'. LMAO

Kara, I just - I think if I were a Kara/Sam shipper I would be over the moon. OVER THE MOON. BUT.

I talked about this in my post, and I posited that I just don't see BIG TWU WUV in these episodes. I see caring, yes. I see affection, yes. But more than that, no. Sam yelling that she owesd him one for Demetrius? That's what loving husband yells to a wife when he's trying to convince her to do something? Not "I love you honey, please don't do this to me, we may never have more time together" makes much more sense, I would think. Sam is focused in being a cylon, and Kara is focused on hoping she's not.

Also, I just just listened to the podcast, and RDM mentions the alternaship, and how much Kara still cares for him, and the she loved him until (amd I quote) "those feelings were supplanted by what (sic) what she feels for Lee Adama". Yes, he used the word supplanted. Thanks, Ron. ;->

Jeez, Ishay, you are an angry, angry lady.

Maybe because they keep bringing her back, but haven't given her a scene with her husband since 'Valley of Darkness'. ;p

I don't have a problem if Zak was Seven because that could potentially be very interesting given developments between Kara and Lee, but I'm not sure how that would work. Zak was born and grew up and had all these people who witnessed that.
