This might be the episode where I shouted at my tv "seriously? are you serious? Are you serious?" more than any other episode of tv evar. I am sure the next eps will eclipse this, but I feel like I said it a lot.
KARA. AND LEE. IN A SCENE TOGETHER. AND THEN ANOTHER. AND THEN ON THE SAME SET. AND THEN ANOTHER WITH TOUCHING AND TALKING AND FEELINGS AND MY HEART EXPLODED FROM LOVE FOR THIS SHIP, YOU GUYS.I just - these two. Hell yes.
- Bah, these two happy with each other. I KNOW HOW THIS ENDS, RON MOORE. (Er, I'm not spoiled. I'm just talking HISTORICAL EXAMPLES OF THINGS NOT ENDING WELL WHEN THESE TWO ARE TOUCHING AND SMILING.)
- I am happy to have it confirmed that Lee doesn't care what or who Kara is. She is the woman he loves and that's that.
- This is a point I feel they've been making all season. Lee Adama loves Kara Thrace (and there's her full name again). Full Stop. ( I think this might help her with whatever journey she is on.)
- At the same time, Kara seems to be finally realizing she isn't her old self. I might be reading this wrong, but she knows she's not who she was, as evidenced by her last conversation with Hybrid Sam, but that doesn't mean she's not Kara.
- As a side note, I was really happy to see Dr. Baltar back. Remeber non-cult leader, non-failed president Baltar? Yeah.
- I do suspect this might be the last Kara/Lee ship time we get. I think we'll see them on screen, but this felt like the big wrap up to me, and I don't think I could ask for more, especially from this half of the season. I was never expecting hearts and flowers, but I was expecting some acknowledgement, and I got that. Katee and Jamie always say so much more than is written, and so I'm happy.
- I would be quite happy to be proven wrong on this.
- ALSO, HANDS ON FACE.
- Which made me wonder where in space Lee is getting manicures. BUT *HANDWAVES* IN FAVOR OF HANDS ON FACE OMG!
From the shallow end:
HOW THE HECK DID KARA RESIST LEE WALKING AWAY BACKWARDS FROM HER, SHIRT HALF UNBUTTONED, HIM GRINNING, SHIRT STRAINING, EYES HOT. GAH. WOMAN. PLEASE.
- Sigh. They're both so pretty. Sometimes I wonder if there is babyfic in this fandom purely because of the genetics that would be involved.
- ALSO, let's talk about Lee's longer hair, which for the most part this ep made Jamie look like his hair had rapidly begun to thin, except when he was with Kara in the hall and he just looked gorgeous. I'm a short-hair!Lee gal any day, but if I have to deal with the mullet, let's have it look like it did there, please. Curly and combed back a little and not parted. Le sigh.
Other things (because I can acknowledge there is more to this show than Pilots! Except I also talk about pilots again):
- Kara puting her picture back up on the wall was maybe the act of closure I have been looking for for her. Acceptance and peace - it's what I think Kara deserves, above and beyond the men in her life.
- Speaking of Kara's boys, how cool is Hybrid!Sam?
- This is not necessarily the ending I would have wished for this character - in life he was so physical that it's even more striking to see him in the tub. But I think shooting Sam was going to be her final act of mercy. Would she have shot herself next? I think so, even if I don't think she was suicidal. Before Baltar's little announcement, I think she just wanted things to be over.
- How lovely did Kara look when they opened the door to Sam's 'room,' lit brightly from behind, hair flowing? Someone is trying to suggest she is an angel. (It's the show, if you are confused.)
- I think Sam might save then all.
- Dee is on the wall, next to where Kara would have been. I'm sure Lee put her picture up there. I think Lee has a few issues, but I also think Lee knows where on that wall he wants his picture to go.
- Could they not have taken a few candids of Luciana, Kandyse and Katee? I mean, I roll my eyes every time I see the promo shots.
Let's talk about Lee's little "Gaius BALTAR?" moment with the captains, and Gaius Baltar.
- First of all, best reaction shot ever? Maybe.
- Secondly, is he still holding a grudge from way back when? (Meaning both KLG and New Caprica, New Caprica making more sense, of course. ) There was lots of weird glare-y reaction shots of Lee while Baltar was outing Kara.
- Thirdly, what is up with Baltar and his harem? Are they policing things now? I must have missed something, could someone explain what's going on beyond him making his radio addresses again.
- Fourthly, ouch. It sort of hurt to listen to them divide up Galactica like a coma patient with matching organs.
- Kara on the toilet while talking to Baltar? I suspect EJO thought that was a hilarious idea. *rolls eyes*
- Hey, remember when these two slept together? Me too.
- Ok, Tahmoh and Grace must have had a rough week. Their eyes must have been swollen shut by the end.
- And Hera! Muffin!
- Boomer, man, Boomer. She's a stone cold bitch one minute, and then the next I sort of feel for her.
- What did Cavil mean that Hera was going to have all kinds of playmates? Does he think he can make more babies? Does he mean the other cylons?
- Hey, cylons, pls to be stop making so many references to the final five being your parents and vice versa, because it is making all of the frakking around that has gone on between the two groups really, really gross
- Adama and Tigh sitting his quarters, toasting Galactica wasn't as moving for me as it should have been, because we have been coming to this point for so long. At one point I winced at the sound of Galactica tearing herself apart in the back ground of a scene.
- I spent most of the ep holding my breath because of a certain casting spoiler that never came to fruition. I'm going to be . . . annoyed if it never does.
I can't imagine how they're going to wrap everything up in three hours.
Three hours! It's finally starting to hit home how little time there is left.
ALSO. I just peaked at my flist and it seems there are finale spoilers out there. OMG., be strong, elly, be strong! *covers eyes*
I have never gone spoiler free, so this is going to be a challenge.

(I kind of glazed over much of the rest of the episode. Unless Katee Sackhoff is on screen, the immediacy is lacking. I'll mainline the whole thing again once the finale airs and I can watch it all at once . . .)

The Kara/Lee scene was very sweet. I find it hilarious but also really adorable that when Kara's involved, the crazy human/Cylon/angel/destiny stuff doesn't matter to Lee. She's just a girl he loves. (To me it seemed like they were close to kissing and I was surprised they didn't -- but I like it this way, not complicating things with the romance and UST at that moment.)
Also, I like his hair like this. :)

Yep, there is NO DOUBT IN MY MIND that the peeing was director Olmos' idea. *tiny voice* I did think it was funny, though.

Agreed, they've been hammering home the ultimate destruction of the ship for so many episodes, I was just thinking FINALLY they've stopped being in denial. The end was pretty anti-climactic, but of course the real climax will be the final two episodes.

Lee was definitely thinking about it and I'm sure Kara wouldn't have pushed him away. But, with Sam's current situation - comatose and hyridized and having an very uncertain future - I would have found it tacky for them to be kissing. Lee made it clear that he was there if she needed him, as a friend or more should that day come, and it was what she needed to hear at that moment. Kissing Lee would have only made her feel guilty and she doesn't need any more burdens right now.

Though I am never against pilot!kissing, I feel like it would have been out of place, even if they wanted to be. I mean, Kara was hours away from trying to mercy-shoot Sam, above and beyond Baltar's little public revelation. Too soon, maybe.

I'm still trying to decide if Baltar asking who Kara is was deliberate or writerfail. I would like to think the former.
I'm still holding out for more Kara/Lee time, or at least Kara&Lee time, but if that's the last of it (and everybody lives), I'll be okay and let the fanfic do the rest.

I know a lot of people think he was serious, but I thought he was totally being sarcastic. While it has been a while since he saw her, there was a LOT of interaction in season one. No way he doesn't remember her the woman who humiliated him and called out someone else's name. His ego is too large!

I feel like we need at least one more scene b/c it feels lop sided to me and now Kara needs to express her love to Lee

I wasn't holding my breath, but after the episode I thought, "Hey, wait a minute!" ;)
Lee's, "Gaius Baltar?!" felt off to me. Part of it was the line delivery (which I blame EJO's directing on - he'll always choose bombastic over subtle) and part of it was I wasn't sure where the captain's declaration was coming from. Are we supposed to just know that the general population is looking to Baltar for leadership now? I thought he still had a fringe following.

That scene was beautiful and perfect (and my only complaint is that it could have lasted just a tiny bit longer).
Heh I'm sure the peeing scene was EJO's idea, but it felt very Kara to me. I love how she doesn't give a shit about modesty or you know boundaries. Hee.
I agree with your Lee-hair thoughts. It looked nice here, but next week it's gonna suck isn't it? Not that they have time for haircuts and manicures now, but yeah, it will shallowly detract from my enjoyment a wee bit I bet.
