Oh, show. *blubbers*

I feel like I don't have a lot to say, but I imagine once I get going that won't be true. I have been guilty of complaining that I felt like some of the last 10 eps were wasted. I didn't feel that way about this ep at all, but the story didn't feel rushed or squeezed to me either. I think I had to take on failth that they're going to wrap up a lot of plot lines subtly, bu still wrap them up - like Hoshi, and Racetrack and Skulls, and Tyrol. These are characters we've spent enough time with that we need some sort of closure. I don't know what I was expecting, but little moments like the shot of Hoshi in the crowd on the mission side or Tyrol in the cylon cell talking to Helo were really satisfying for me.

- I loved how there was no teaser, and how the credits ended without preview scenes. The theme is so much more mournful without the poundy drums.
- The lovely little shots that connected the ep - the water falling, the bird, lovely.

- Is Adama up for jury duty?
- Baby shower Laura! So pretty! Man. Mary is a gorgeous lady when they are not making her wear a bald cap and let her do her hair and makeup.
- Oh, Laura. For the first time in a long time I had a lot of sympathy for her. I understand why death isn't such a hard choice for her - we knew she had people waiting for her, but we didn't know it was everyone.
- Alright, who else thought that when her friend set her up with a younger man it was TOTALLY GOING TO BE LEE.
- The pond Laura wades into is located at my alma mater. The fountains are not normally there. Normally, you would not want to be sprayed by the water in that fountain. Also, it is home to a large school of koi.
- I wonder if Gaius' behaviour towards his father was what convinced Natazi to proceed with the cylon plan.

- It must have made the ending of the show even harder for the cast and crew to see the sets slowly dismantled.
- Why would Hotdog leave Hera and Athena's picture up? The only explanation I can come up with is he was leaving it for Helo. Still sort of broke my heart.
- Also, three generations of Olmoses! Well, excepting the baby. But sort of.

- Lee and Gauis HA. "Is that what this is about? does everything have to reduce to your personal feelings about Kara Thrace?" YES. THAT IS WHAT WE HAVE BEEN SAYING FOR YEARS, BSG.
- AND NO. It actually reduces to PapaAdama's personal feelings, but whatever, marriage.
- I assume Kara and Adama asked where Hera was, but then what of all of Kara's notes and the song? Did I miss something?
- "I know what you are. You're my daughter." Man. I found this hard to swallow, given all of Adama's actions lately. I just - I believe he believes it. I just think actions speak louder than words. I understand he's finally coming out of his fog where all he cares about is himself and Laura, but too little, too late for me maybe. I really hope he redeems himself.

- I might have actually clapped when Lee was the first to cross over the line.
- Lee! Back in uniform! How wrong did his hair look? I kind of want fic where Kara cuts it for him because OMG WRONG.
- In the continuing saga of "Lee and Kara: the relationship they are having off screen in all of their scenes together that we are missing: the 'in elly's head' version" at least we know they had to plan the upcoming op together.

Okay, I feel I have paid enough attention to the other aspects of the show that I can now devolve into cries of
BAAAAAAAAAAAAABY PILOTS. BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABYPILOTS. OMG.
- I';m not going to lie, my heart was in my throat for the entire first part of the ep until they showed up because OMG BABYPILOTS WERE COMING. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
- IKEA NOTE: Kara is definitely cooking in an IKEA wok using IKEA utensils.

OH SHOW.

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABYPILOTS.
- So, canon now says Kara definitely met Zak first. On one hand, I'm sort of sad to have their first meeting be canonized, but on the other hand how frigging nice to get some back story.
- How much did I love the flustered little first meeting at the doorway? Because Kara was all "OMG meeting my boyfriend's family ACK ACK ACK. ACK." And Lee was totally checking her out. ADORABLE.
- I'm maybe reading too much into one facial expression - Lee's face sort of drops after they do their "Lee-" "yeah, Lee" bit, like he maybe recognizes her or remembers her from some long ago, drunken one night stand.
- That was one elaborate bouquet Lee brought. Muffin! And wine! Nice work, Lee!
- Also, happy, giddy, giggly Kara. Man. MAN. These people were so unbroken before Zak died. Man.
- Funny - Lee is totally wearing his tags, and Kara definitely is not.

- I had to watch the scene three times before I was convinced Kara was saying "Zak" and not "Sam" when she was coming back down the stairs. I was confused. And maybe the only one.

- Lee! And his short hair! And his pilot jacket! Where were his aviator sunglasses, huh? LEE ADAMA = MAVERICK, Y/N? (Y)
- Man, pre-dead Zak Lee was apparently a fun guy. GAH, THERE IS SO MUCH FIC POTENTIAL THERE, GUYS.

- ZAK ADAMA. ZAK ADAMA, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. I realize it may seem to the random reader of my fic that I am something of a Zak fangirl. I'm not, really, but I was really, really excited for this casting spoiler. Which maybe makes mea Zak fangirl. But not in a weird way.
- Tobias Mehler and Jamie don't look much alike but *handwave*
- And was the ring on Zak's pinky Kara's ring? Hmm.

- THE ADAMA BROTHERS, WHOOT. Man, the arms around each other's shoulders might have been my favorite moment of the ep. Hee! I must have an icon!
- Also, "girlfriend stealer." NICE. LEE ADAMA, LADY KILLER.
- Also, there's Zak's sense of inferiority. Man, I suspected that came into play back in the day.
- I like how Lee was concerned that Kara think well of him and not notice the way he COULD NOT KEEP HIS EYES OFF OF HER.
- I feel like we got a lot of Lee character info/development in this tiny scene. He was a very different man before his brother's death and before the mini.
- All right, where's the threesome fic?

- Lee coming into the apartment drunk and finding the bird: was that suposed to be his apartment? At first I thoght it was Kara and Zak's, but no staircase. And who is he daring? And why did I cringe through the entire thing? Oh, Lee. I guess this means we get more flashbacks in the next ep.
- He's daring Kara to kiss him, yes? Or do something crazy? He's just so happy and lose. And a girfriend stealer.

Form the shallow end:
- Reason I love my flist: someone will know the answer to this - did Jamie actually cut his hair for the flashback? Man, he looked so young with hair that short.
- Also, try as they might, Jamie still looked older than in the mini. And more built.
- (Am I crazy to remember Jamie saying once that he got the job and the producers told him to lose 20 pounds, and that was why he looked kind of gaunt in the mini? Maybe I made that up.)
- Thank you, Ron Moore and David Eick, for naked Michael Trucco in a tub. Yes. Good work, boys.

So. We're going to lose the Galactica to a black hole. It's sort of fitting, I suppose. If Stargate taught me anything it's that time moves differently inside a singularity, so she'll exisit for a long time yet.

As I said as the ep ended, I want the second half now. Oh show.

Er, and I didn't end up going to Portland, for those interested. Couldn't get work off. Bleurgh.
