What five scenes are you most thankful for?
The scene in Abyss where Jack asks Daniel to kill him, because Jack's about to give in.
I like this scene for so many reasons. All through the ep I'd bought the silly plot device and believed that Jack couldn't remember anything. Discovering that he'd been holding out. . . this was one of those moments the show can do so well sometimes, when I'm remindered with force who these people are. Yes, Jack is charming and goofy and a smart ass, but he's also a soldier and one who's been through a hell of a lot, and is trained to resist this sort of thing. Yum. And, the way he says "he loved her" is just . . . mmmm. This is also he ep that convinced me RDA can act (when he wants to.)
The Death Knell hug
Because, yeah, maybe there's some ship there but like nos has said recently, it's really about two soldiers finding some comfort and taking an opportunity to rest. There's camaraderie and friendship and years of understanding in that one moment, and it appeals to the part of me who loves Sam and Jack and seeing them as people, not just as a potential romantic pairing.
The fishing invite at the beginning of Nemesis - my favorite ship moment
Because Sam's beautiful and Jack's so friggin' cute asking Daniel first and getting a hair cut and high tailing it out of Daniel's room as soon as he says no and explaining the concept of 'leave' with the most ridiculously adorable little smile and totally bailing as soon as it looks like Sam's going to say no and then trying so hard to convince her to come when she comes running after him. The charm and the chemistry between AT and RDA in that scene is just ridiculous. The flirting! My *god*! Squee!
The bar scene in Upgrades
Because there is something about Jack drinking hard liquor out of a shotglass that I find intolerably sexy. And oh yeah, Sam and Jack and Daniel playing eye tag and being all coy and sexy and you know they've all got a hundred millon hormones running through them and are desperate for each other. The tension so thick you could cut it with a steak knife. Oh, and Jack being all flirty and sexy and guh with the waitress. And at the very least I like Sam ordering a diet soda because she likes the taste. My kind of girl.
The scene in Secrets where Jacob tells Sam he has cancer
Love Jacob. Love Sam in this whole episode (mostly when Jack meets Jacob and she's all smiley and making eyes at him and you can so see the crush in full force.) but I love the way we get to deal with Sam as a character who loves and has people who love her. Love that we get to start to understand where Sam's (incredible) drive to succeed comes from.
And because this was harder than expected - Runners up:
- The 'There but for the Grace of God' AU Sam/Jack hug. Well, actually, to be very specific, the moment just before when Sam just says "Jack," and makes him stop. There's history in that word, so much that we don't get to see but just know is there because of the line delivery. Nice.
- And, connected to that, the moment in 'Politics,' when the team's at Daniel's bedside and he lets it slip that about the AU engament and Jack can't get past it and Sam's all pissy and "It is theoretically possible" and offended it can't even consider it. Hee.
- Sam and Janet and "Is this going to be a problem?" in 'A Hundred Days.' Gah. Love it, the mix between friendship and professionalism and Janet very clearly trying to balance.
- '2010' at the cabin. Lost opportunities. Angst! Jack with stubble! Mmmmmm.
- Elliott rushing in to save Hailey and sacrfice himself in 'Proving Ground.' I love Elliot and I wish they hadn't killed him off.
Mmmm. Stargate.
