And I am bored this evening.

Fandom: one or many - One seriously with a couple in the background.
Fandom: tv shows, movies - Tv shows. Not enough character development in movies, generally.
Fandom: books - Eh. None I'm interested in enough to get involved in.
Fandom: comics, cartoons, anime - I'd like to but I don't know where to start. Comics, that is.
Fandom: boyband, RPF, RPS (aka real person fic, real person slash or real person smut) - No. I'm sorry, I just don't really get it. I'm not interested in boybands and RPF/Ss are just not my cup of tea. I generally get the impression a lot of actors in things I'm interested in tend to be asses, so there's the turn off right there. And I'm not in it for the actors so much as the characters, so RPF doesn't make sense for me personally. (And it squicks me out. Sorry.)
Conventions: yes, no, fan, pro - Never been, probably never will be, though they sound sort of fun.
Meta discussion - It's alllllll about the meta. Dude, why do you think I'm on lj?
Fanfiction: love/loathe, read, write - *snorfle*
Vids and vidding - It takes a lot to get me to watch a vid, that said, if I take the trouble to download, I usually like it. Not into vidding myself.
Photomanips - Eh. Sometimes a little scary, especially the NC-17 ones that I've seen reference to on samandjackNC17. That's . . . creepy.
Fan art - I'm including lj icons in here, so okay. I appriciate it if it has a use as a banner or wallpaper or what not. Doing hand drawings of my favorite characters? Well, aside from the amusing flame wars that begin, not generally my cup of tea. There's not a lot of it in SG fandom. Huh. Wonder why. Maybe I'm just missing it.
Mailing Lists - are all about no-mail. No-mail is my bestest friend ever.
Fanzines: read, buy, produce - Nope. Wouldn't know where to get one.
RPGs (aka role-playing games) - Not interested. The sock puppets that were around a while ago were amusing to read.
Gen, het, slash, other - Freakishly, gen is my least favorite of these three. That said I probably haven't read enough really good gen to appriciate it. But if it's well written and someone points me in its direction (or if I haven't read it first) then I'll read it no matter what the genre. But het is my preference. And I think it's funny that I read het and don't think of it as that - I'm more likely to refer to it as 'ship. Stupid sg-1 fandom, poisoning me forever!
Original characters, self-inserts, Mary Sues - OCs, when well written, are a really, really good thing and make me jealous as a writer. Self-inserts and Mary Sues, unless done intentionally as a joke, annoy the heck out of me and make me stop reading.
Fanon vs canon - Canon. Ohhhh, canon.
Fanfiction cliches (not fanon) - Amuse me so much. I *heart* them when reworked well, make me giggle when it appears the author's unaware it's a fic cliche. One cliche that pisses me off? Characters quoting a line from the show verbatim. Dude. In real life, how often do you and your friends quote chunks from a conversation you had a year ago? Exactly.
PWP, smut, kinks - Whohooo! Though as a certain list has shown, personal kinks and whatnot, ew and squick. Don't let me know it's a personal thing, mmkay?
Squicks - Badfic, couplating tongues, acts that are physically impossible, incest, rape, gratuitous torture/whumping even if it does lead to comfort sex, sex curing everything, (though I'm pretty much guilty of writing that one myself. Twice.)gross mischaracterization, excessive gore, multiple orgasms (like, four or five or more)and pregnancy (when out of character.)
SG-1 fic (a whole 'nother category of squicks): unecessarily weepy Sam, girly!Daniel, completely overlooking Teal'c, Sam-hate, Daniel-hate, the sexinator!, this list could go on forever, weepy Jack (when have we seen him cry?), Jack or Sam crying when they get together (with a couple of exceptions. Sometimes it's okay). I will stop now before I offend anyone else.
What "badfic" means to me - Please see "squicks." Addendum to that list, exclusively for 'badfic' definition: misspelled title, summary or author's notes.
ETA: (also from
nostalgia_lj) There are 747 members of a "less Sam on Stargate SG-1" yahoo group. I want to be sick. Why are they watching the show if they can't stand one of the characters? Somedays I want out of this fandom.
